Late spring and early summer is the perfect time to learn how to shoot infrared; fresh foliage and sunny conditions translate perfectly to moody, ethereal images. Spend the day in Dorset, shooting tree-lined avenues and ancient, ruined buildings, with a follow-up Zoom session learning suitable processing techniques. Loan equipment is available if you don't have your own.
You'll spend 8 to 10 hours in the field in various locations around Dorset, learning how to ‘see’ in black and white and how to identify which subjects will make suitable monochrome infrared studies. You'll also be given the relevant technical knowledge to help you create eye-catching black and white infrared images.
Infrared works best at the times of day when the landscape is traditionally considered not very photogenic, so for this workshop there are no early starts or late finishes - you'll start mid-morning and finish late afternoon. Don't worry if you don't have an IR-converted camera as Mark has a spare which you can use during the workshop - just remember to bring your own SD card.
The second part of the workshop is a processing tutorial which will take place via Zoom, arranged for a mutually convenient date.
Please note that accommodation is not included in the cost of this workshop. Click on the ‘Accommodation’ tab to see a list of recommendations. If you book one of these, Mark will collect you from your accommodation; otherwise, you'll meet on location.
