Open in Venice
I’ve just got back from a few days in Venice. I’d been there several times before but I realised during my stay I’d not visited for over twenty years. It was great to be back and to see things afresh with several more years of photography experience behind me.
I particularly enjoyed strolling the banks of the Venetian Lagoon at dusk. The evenings soon become lit by the tiny lights from buildings across the water and on the small boats that continually ferried from island to island. There is a coolness to the dark sky this time of year which contrasted with the warmth of the streetlights. It’s true: there is a romance to the city, whether it be the association with great artists and writers or the seemingly endless stream of canoodling couples being gently paraded by proud gondoliers.
